Chocolate Chip Cookies

What's better than a snow day? A snow day with warm chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven!  My quest for the perfect cookie has taken many months and many batches of cookies.  (You can imagine how much my family complained about all of the taste testing!)
Here's my version of everyone's favorite cookie.  A mouthwatering chocolate chip that's the perfect balance of crisp outside and chewy inside, and best of all - loaded with chips for extra chocolatey goodness.

2-1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups chocolate chips ( I like to use a combination of chips...semi-sweet, chunks, milk, and dark)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder and set aside.  Beat butter with an electric mixer until smooth.  Add sugars and beat until fluffy.  Beat in eggs one at a time, beat in vanilla.  Gradually add flour mixture and beat just until flour is incorporated.  Add chocolate chips and mix on low speed until chips are evenly distributed.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes until golden.  Leave cookies on cookie sheet 1 to 2 minutes.  Remove cookies and cool on wire rack.

Serve with a big, tall glass of milk.
